Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board Team Land Prizes at National Awards Ceremony

Members of the finance department at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board have taken home two awards at the annual Healthcare Financial Management (HFMA) Awards.

The Health Board’s Bronwen Lloyd-Williams was named Student of the Year at the awards ceremony in Cardiff, and Helen Macarthur and Gary Young were winners of the Performance Improvement award.

The awards celebrate excellence in health sector financial management and best practice, and featured a total of five different categories.

Bronwen, who joined the Health Board in 2008 as an Accounts Receivable assistant, won the Student of the Year award for her efforts in studying for her ACCA qualification. Bronwen, who joined the Management Accounts team two years ago, was commended for her work in supporting her budget managers and introducing improved establishment control systems.

The Performance Improvement award was won by Helen and Gary for their work developing a Financial Assurance Framework, which helps the finance team provide greater and more systematic assurance to the Health Board’s Audit Committee.

Russell Favager, Director of Finance for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, said:

“We’re extremely proud of the work our colleagues have put in to win these awards.

Although we’re not always seen as the most glamorous of departments, it’s great that Bronwen, Helen and Gary have been recognised for their outstanding work.

“The awards are extremely competitive, so taking home two of the five awards available is a great indicator of the quality of work both they individually and the finance department as a team are doing in the Health Board.”
