Indoor Biotechnologies launches Indian business

Cardiff-based allergen testing business Indoor Biotechnologies has launched a sister company in India.

The company has opened its new laboratory and office in the Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre, headed up by former Cardiff University School of Medicine faculty student Dr Sivasankar Baalasubramanian, an immunology specialist and entrepreneur.

Indoor Biotechnologies has operated from the Cardiff Medicentre biotech and medtech incubation hub for four years and now trades in more than 50 countries.

Clients include allergists and immunologists from academia, government, and pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies, as well as consumers in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australasia.

Dr James Hindley, director of Indoor, said: “Our new operation will focus on working with Indian researchers and companies to create allergen detection kits that will improve environmental and indoor air quality, as well as food safety relevant to Indian allergy sufferers.

“We think we are the first Indian company to offer tools for allergy research and product development, and it’s great to be bringing something new to the market.”

The company plans to grow its business in India through its network of partners in the healthcare and pharma sector.

It is also targeting expansion of its facility in Cardiff and its range of products and services.
