MediWales’ Debbie Laubach represents UK in CEBR Board

The Council of European BioRegions (CEBR) is a network of biotechnology support professionals that support their local biocommunity through direct services including networking, incubation, partnering and cluster promotion.

It is the first network of its kind to bring together such organisations and members will develop and implement new biotech support activities across Europe.

After the first full 3 year term of CEBR asbl, the board is being refreshed. From February 1 2016, a new board term will commence, with board members approved by the General Assembly according to the asbl handbook.

Following a nomination process last year, CEBR has 10 new board members from 9 countries, including MediWales’ Operations Manager, Debbie Laubach, representing the UK.

Board Members from February 1 are:

  • Gregory Bauer, Atlanpole (FR) new
  • Thomas Dentzer, LuxInnovation (L) new
  • Frédéric Druck, BioWin (BE) re-elected for second term
  • Jordi Fàbrega, Biocat (ES) new
  • Debbie Laubach, Mediwales (UK) new
  • Tero Piispanen, Turku Science Park (FI) mid-term
  • Kevin Romani, Lyonbiopole (FR) mid-term
  • Francesc Senatore, Toscana Life Sciences (IT) new
  • Stephanie Wehnelt, BioM (DE) new
  • Yylva Williams, Stockholm Science City (SE) new

Regarding her vision for CEBR, Debbie Laubach said: “The Council for European BioRegions is a thriving network of ‘Biocommunities’ from the life science and health technology sector, keen to work together, share good practice, collaborate and reach out to the wider global life science sector. Representing a significant proportion of life science organisations and clusters in Europe, CEBR has built up a very impressive group of members including 1000s of companies, science parks, incubators and university clusters across Europe. There is significant potential in the next few years to increase the profile and brand awareness of the organisation and its members within the European community and to the wider world – building on the excellent work that has been done to strengthen and extend our links with international partners. To secure the future of CEBR and increase the range and number of projects that we can run it is vital that we create new sources of funding and additional revenue streams. Through my experience of supporting MediWales through similar process I would be delighted to help CEBR obtain a stable and sustainable base for the future.”
