Rogue Resolutions launches BrainBox initiative to support young neuroscientists

Innovative Welsh neuroscience solutions provider, Rogue Resolutions, launches BrainBox Initiative, an exciting programme of events and activities for young neuroscientists at this month’s Society for Neuroscience (SfN) annual conference in San Diego.

Rogue Resolutions believe the future of neuroscience lies in the hands of young researchers. To support this next generation and to give something back to the community they have created the BrainBox Initiative.

BrainBox Initiative is a collaboration with key academics in the field, including Professors John Rothwell and Sven Bestmann and Joe Devlin of UCL, Professor Paul Taylor, LMU Munich and Dr Charlotte Stagg, University of Oxford.

The purpose of BrainBox Initiative is to provide young researchers a wide range of opportunities including hands-on, practical experience of neuroscience techniques, speaking at conferences, presenting posters, gaining recognition for their research achievements and to get support for new ideas.

The inaugural programme for 2017 comprises:

  • Symposium – satellite day to the NYC Neuromodulation conference
  • Neuroscience Workshops – TMS, tDCS/tACS and TMS-EEG, in partnership with UCL
  • Research Challenge Prize
  • Young Investigator Award
  • Conference – in London over 2 days providing a platform for new speakers. The focus is on multimodal brain research techniques

Andrew Thomas, Managing Director of Rogue Resolutions, says “We are committed to young researchers in the neuroscience field. In 2016 we piloted a number of workshops and ran the first of our research challenge prizes. The feedback and response we got was overwhelmingly positive. The BrainBox Initiative announced today builds on this success and represents a significant opportunity for the early-stage neuroscientist”.

To accompany the launch of the BrainBox Initiative at this year’s SfN conference, a dedicated microsite is also being launched as a hub for information, blogs, video and other resources.
