Welsh firm Sure Chill has been chosen to make the world a better place

Cardiff-based technology firm Sure Chill had been identified as one of 30 firms globally that can help create a better future for the world.

Sure Chill, whose innovative cooling technology is used in 40 countries, has bee selected to participate in the ground-breaking Dubai Future Accelerators programme.

The Dubai government-backed initiative, which will run for 12 weeks, selected the companies from 2,274 entries.

It has designed to identify emergent technologies and businesses with the potential to address the world’s current and future problems.

As well as funding opportunities the programme, which will be completed just before Christmas, will see the companies developing solutions and prototypes for rapid deployment across Dubai.

The programme has set seven key challenges in healthcare, education, transportation, infrastructure, renewable energy and digital transformation.

Sure Chill’s technology

Sure Chill’s unique cooling technology doesn’t need a constant power supply.

It can provide cooling for over 10 days or more without power in hot ambient conditions. The platform technology can be adapted to suit any cooling device, from cool box and domestic refrigerators to air conditioning and retail chillers.

It has commended for aiding vaccine delivery in developing countries, and received a $1.5 million ‘Grand Challenges’ award from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to improve the vaccine cold chain.

Since its launch in 2011, the cooling technology is currently used in over 40 countries. The invention is set to create a better future, and be developed across multiple sectors in both developed and emerging economies.

Sure Chill director, Nigel Saunders, said: “We are delighted that Sure Chill has been selected to take part in the Dubai Future Accelerator programme.

By the end of the 12 weeks, we hope to announce a significant partnership within Dubai. The story of Dubai fits with Sure Chill’s big thinking and we are excited about the prospects; this is all about working on tomorrow’s world.”

H.E. Saif Al Aleeli, chief executive of the Dubai Future Foundation, said: “With the Dubai Future Accelerators, our mission is to turn the future, which was once a theoretical concept, into a reality in which Dubai can position itself as a global leader.

“We are excited to see how some of the world’s most innovative companies and entrepreneurs collaborate with our government entities to create solutions that will transform the future of Dubai, and possibly the world”.
