KESS partnership projects
The Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarships (KESS) is a major European Convergence programme led by Bangor University on behalf of the Welsh higher education sector. KESS offers collaborative research projects linked with a local company partner, with scholarships supported by European Social Funding across Wales. For more information about the KESS programme, head to their website
Tenovus Cancer Care is an eligible KESS company partner.

We’re keen to be an active partner on available PhD studentships, and will prioritise projects which will help us meet our charity aims. We currently consider expressions of interest from potential academic partners across Wales only.
We are also interested in projects that support our work. These include:
- cancer support and evaluation (e.g. our mobile support units, welfare benefits advice, choirs)
- cancer prevention (e.g. our health check and health campaigns)
- cancer policy
- fundraising activities, including our charity shops. We also currently support over 2200 volunteers who play a vital role across our organisation.

How do I apply?
To meet the KESS 2 spring 2019 deadline for projects starting October 2019, we’d like to invite expressions of interest by Monday 25th February, with decisions in April.
Once we have given a partnering commitment, it is the responsibility of the academic partner to apply to the KESS 2 programme through their host university.
