But heart and circulatory disease still kills more than one in four people in Wales, stealing them away from their families and loved ones. From babies born with life-threatening heart problems, to the many mums, dads and grandparents who survive a heart attack or endure their daily battles with heart failure.

Statistics are very important to the BHF. They give our staff, volunteers and supporters a sense of the scale of heart and circulatory disease’s burden and the challenges we face as we fight for every heartbeat. We compile the most comprehensive statistics on the effects, prevention, treatment, costs and causes of heart disease in Wales and the UK.
