eHealth Industries Innovation Centre is open for business!

eHealth Industries

The launch of the eHealth Industries Innovation (ehi2) Centre held last month marks the official opening of the new industry-focussed centre for the eHealth industries of Wales.

The launch provided opportunity for delegates to engage with healthcare professionals from the NHS, academia and Welsh Assembly Government whilst expanding their business network with other companies.

Invited speakers at the information-sharing day presented the future architecture of NHS Wales for ehealth technologies; vision for UK electronic patient records; IM&T as an enabler in supporting the delivery of care; and the current informatics research in health and technology being undertaken by universities throughout Wales. Over 50 companies attended the event at the Village Hotel, Swansea and we were delighted to receive first-rate feedback from delegates.

Director of s3 Systems Limited, Sean Milsom commented:

“I really enjoyed the ehi2 Launch Event. It was very professionally staged and managed and it gave my colleague and I an opportunity to network with fellow companies that are also members of ehi2 and to meet key personnel that we would not have met had we not attended the event.”

John Starzewski, Managing Director of The Magstim Company Limited added:
“The speakers definitely opened up some very interesting areas of discussion and the balance of subject matter was very appropriate. The concept of eHealth is highly relevant and  exposure to it at this event has led me to look at opportunities that I would otherwise have not paid much attention to.
“In addition it is very good to be made aware of the significant competencies available at Swansea.”

The success of the launch has been echoed by the identification of potential collaborative projects with eHealth companies in Wales. The Centre has also engaged with 28 new companies out of the 50 in attendance on the day, and network members were linked up with ehi2 network partners following the event.

We would like to extend our thanks to all delegates who attended in spite of the inclement weather conditions and for making the day a success. We look forward to seeing you in future events, details of which will be posted on the Members Area.
