Expert Advice: Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board – working with industry

We are keen to build strong and collaborative relationships with our industry colleagues in order to support our aim to make sure that people in Wales and the UK have the very best up to date evidence based prudent treatment and care. Research and Innovation are vital in ensuring robust health care delivery to the people of Wales and in being best enabled to effectively meet the challenges of caring for our population.

A key priority for us in BCUHB Research and Development Department this year was to become more accessible to the commercial sector.  We have added an Industry Portal to the home page of our newly revitalised website which allows submission of a simple form outlining requirements. You will be contacted within five working days for further information or advice – as we do appreciate that time and quick turnaround is often vitally important to you. We also maintain a visible presence at Mediwales and other commercially focused events. Please feel free to come up and say “hello” or invite us to anything you feel relevant.

Our well attended Industry Networking event in April this year provided the forum for a breadth of industry colleagues to tell us how we could be a “better collaborator”, develop and build on common goals and support innovation together. This is a great opportunity to thank everyone who attended and contributed so whole heartedly – and to announce our intention to host an Unmet Needs Challenge in November 2017 as part of our response to that feedback. For further details and finalised date please watch the Mediwales website.

It’s vital to be well networked and we are proud to collaborate with Health and Care Research Wales Industry team, Mediwales, Life Sciences Hub and various other national and local business support organisations.
