Frontier Medical Group honoured at BVCA Responsible Investment Awards
Frontier Medical Group, the specialist medical device manufacturer based in Blackwood, has been honoured at the prestigious BVCA Responsible Investment Awards 2017.
The company was presented with the Responsible Portfolio Company Award 2017, an accolade given to businesses backed by private equity and venture capital that stand out for their outstanding Environmental, Social and Governance practices (ESG).
It marks the second successive year the company has been recognised having been named Wales Mid-Market Management Team of the Year at the 2016 BVCA Regional Awards. It’s also the latest in a long line of achievements for the company, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2016.
Simon Jackson, Managing Director at Frontier said: “This award is a real honour for us. To be recognised by the BVCA for the second year running is a testament to our fantastic team and reflects the success we have had in embedding ESG practices throughout our operations. Commenting on Frontier Medical Group’s entry, the judging panel remarked: “Frontier was a fantastic example of a company that considers ESG across its business, implementing initiatives throughout its commercial activity and an excellent case-study of how portfolio companies should integrate ESG in practice.”
The company’s Sharpsafe® range of products were the world’s first bespoke-designed, disposable containers for clinical sharps and have received numerous design awards since they were first launched in 1980. Frontier remains at the forefront of the development of the international standards for these products.
Frontier has also worked extensively with clinicians in the NHS to develop the Repose® range of pressure area care products, which today are the most widely used pressure area care products in the UK. Over 3.5 million people have used Repose products in the UK alone. The company is also the UK’s market leader in providing products to Harm Reduction services through its eXchange™ brands.
