Frontier Medical Group opens new Head Office and celebrates 50th anniversary milestone

Frontier Medical Group unveils a new office for its 240-strong staff in South Wales while celebrating 50 years of success

Last week, the medical device company Frontier Medical Group (Frontier) opens its new Head Office in Blackwood in South Wales. The newly refurbished office will be inaugurated on Frontier’s 50th anniversary, celebrating the milestone with an event on Thursday in the presence of Economy Minister Edwina Hart and Professor Keith Harding CBE (Dean for Clinical Innovation Cardiff University and Medical Director Welsh Wound Innovation Centre), both of whom have witnessed Frontier evolve
into a leading local employer and an innovator in the medical devices industry.

This milestone is a testament to Frontier’s commitment to continued innovation and to the sustainability of the company. As well as the new headquarters the company has gone through a rebranding, launched a number of new products in 2015 and is launching its next  major new product, Repose® Ultracore, in April this year.

Simon Jackson, Managing Director at Frontier Medical Group said: “Opening our new Head Office in our 50th anniversary year is a major milestone for us. We’re proud to celebrate five decades of pioneering simplicity by providing both cost and clinically effective medical devices that help prevent harm such as needle stick injuries and pressure ulcers.”

“Frontier is a leading supplier of products and services to healthcare providers in the UK, Europe and internationally. Around 25 per cent of our sales come from export markets. The new Head Office is only the beginning of a number of exciting plans we have this year as we continue to invest in our business and expand both our global business and portfolio of products.”

Economy Minister Edwina Hart said: “Frontier is a highly innovative company and its products have made a significant contribution to the health and well being of patients around the world. As a market leader in its field, it is a valued member of the life science sector in Wales and an important local employer. I am delighted to hear of their plans to expand, further invest in the business and launch a range of new products. Today is indeed an important milestone for the company and I wish Frontier every success in the future.”

Frontier recognised the need for a purpose-designed container for the safe disposal of clinical sharps and developed Sharpsafe® – the world’s first bespoke sharps container. Sharpsafe® containers were first marketed in 1980 and received numerous design awards, setting the standard for the regulation that followed. Working with clinicians in the NHS in the 1990s Frontier developed the Repose® range of pressure area care products that are now the most widely used pressure area care products in the UK. Over 3.5 million people have used Repose® products in the UK alone.

Professor Keith Harding CBE Dean for Clinical Innovation Cardiff University and Medical Director at Welsh Wound Innovation Centre said “We have a relationship with Frontier that goes back nearly 20 years as we worked together on developing and proving the clinical efficacy of the Repose® products. All the team at the Welsh Wound Innovation Centre look forward to this relationship continuing as we work together to develop clinically effective products to reduce the prevalence of pressure ulcers.”

Frontier is also the UK’s market leader in providing products to Harm Reduction services through its eXchange™ brands. Frontier’s new office will officially open on the 25th of February and the newly branded website can be seen here.
