Fulcrum Direct are first tenant signed up for GE Innovation Village

GE Healthcare has signed up the first tenant for its Innovation Village campus in Cardiff, and has received expressions of interest from more than 50 other potential occupiers.

Fulcrum Direct, the life sciences marketing and commercialisation agency, will move into the campus at GE Healthcare’s Forest Farm base in May.

Jeremy Jones, director of Fulcrum, which will relocate from Cardiff Medicentre, said: “We are growing and aspire to develop more international engagement. We hope that associating with GE will help us. We hope to double in size within the next 18 months to two years.”

The first building at the Innovation Village was opened yesterday (27 April 2015) by Edwina Hart, the economy minister, and Kieran Murphy, president of GE Healthcare Life Sciences.

The building has office space and laboratories for up to 12 companies. Murphy told Insider further space could be given to the Innovation Village, or new buildings constructed.

He said: “We have 30 acres here. If we get a high level of interest, GE would commit to more space and accommodation.”

The campus is designed for early stage and growing life sciences companies, with support from GE to develop and commercialise products.

The Welsh Government provided £367,000 for the development from its Open Innovation programme and European Regional Development Funds.
