MediWales members, PDR, launch new patient-specific design centre

PDR’s new Knowledge Transfer Centre (KTC) aligns the needs of clinicians, patients and health services with those of manufacturing companies wishing to develop medical devices.

The medical device KTC builds on over 12 years experience of working closely with the healthcare community to develop medical devices, prostheses and surgical guides. PDR have particular expertise in working with organic and anatomical data generated through CT/MRI scanners to produce bespoke medical solutions.

The user research laboratory provides a space for observing products in use by healthcare specialists, patients or other related users. This capability is supported by specialist behaviour analysis software to inform new product development.

The new services draw on PDR’s established expertise in the entire design process from opportunity identification through product design to rapid prototyping and batch manufacturing.
