Nathan Wyburn: Vaccination Art

Artist Nathan Wyburn has been commissioned by The Arts for Health and Wellbeing Team supported by Cardiff & Vale Health Charity and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board to create a piece of art to recognise the hard work and dedication of those working on the Covid-19 Vaccination Programme within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

The artwork is a collage, made up of hundreds of images of people having their vaccines.  Some of the images show the emotional impact on those after having their vaccines, who are now looking forwarding to a brighter tomorrow after what has been an extremely tough 17 months.

Over 600,000 vaccines have now been administered throughout Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Len Richards, Chief Executive of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board said: “After what has been a challenging year, this an amazing milestone to achieve.

“Even though we’ve come this far, it is not the time to be complacent, vaccination is still our best defence against Covid-19 and allowing us to move back to normality.

“Every vaccine administered gives us hope, and I urge anyone who has not yet been vaccinated to please come forward.

“I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all those involved in the vaccination programme, and as a Health Board we have been proud to be part of #TeamWales to vaccinate our nation as safely and efficiently as possible.”

Tracy Meredith, Head of Testing and Mass Immunisation at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board said: “This artwork is a wonderful tribute to our staff who have been working tirelessly across our vaccination centres to make getting the jab as quick and convenient for people as possible.

“I’d like to thank everyone involved in the vaccination programme for their incredible efforts during the past seven months in helping to protect our nation.”
