Sir Chris Evans to head life sciences sector panel

Walesonline.co.uk announcement of Sir Chris Evans as the chairman of the new lifesciences panel for the Welsh Assembly.

In a boost to the private sector credentials of the new business support model of Minister for the Economy and Transport, Ieuan Wyn Jones, Port Talbot- born Sir Chris will chair the panel supporting WAG’s life sciences team.

Sir Chris has been one of the most successful players in the sector over the past two decades, having provided funding for a spread of companies through his venture capital fund Excalibur Fund Managers (formerly Merlin Biosciences).

In all, six panel chairs have been announced, who will each be supported by four other panel members.

The other chairs are: advanced materials and manufacturing, managing director of FSG Tool & Die Gareth Jenkins; financial and professional services, senior partner of Capital Law Chris Nott; energy and environment Kevin McCullough, chief technical officer of RWE nPower; and for ICT managing director of Logicalis UK Thomas Kelly.
