Sterilin: April’s Member of the Month

New facilities demonstrate Sterilin’s commitment to the future of single-use laboratory products

Sterilin is a global company and market leader in the field of single-use laboratory products. Fifty years on from when the founders of Sterilin introduced the concept of disposable laboratory plastics to the UK market – bringing new levels of convenience, flexibility and reducing the time-consuming task of washing and autoclaving glassware – Sterilin is moving its manufacturing headquarters in line with its new phase of growth.

The investment in new facilities, technology and equipment at the new site in Newport, reflects Sterlin’s aim to be the life science market leader for single-use laboratory products used in sample collection, preservation, processing and transportation.

“We are investing in our future – a strong future!” explains Sterilin Chief Executive, David Frost. “With new purpose-built premises and manufacturing facilities we are creating a flagship site, a world-class headquarters for our global business. We are taking the opportunity to further improve our processes, replacing equipment and introducing the latest technology to ensure that we are operating as efficiently as possible. This will help us to remain financially competitive in the worldwide marketplace and to further improve customer satisfaction, meeting their expectations for high quality as we continue to develop and introduce new products.”

With their strong pioneering heritage, Sterilin is firmly committed to research and development. As a result, the range of products available from Sterilin has grown rapidly and includes, the market leading Sterilin universal container; the 60ml container; different sizes of Petri dishes; disposable plastic pipettes; a wide range of packaging products; specialised products for tissue culture; and silicone rubber products for medical and laboratory use.

The company recognises that laboratory trends are changing. New, highly sensitive diagnostic techniques depend on good sampling methods and good preservation of specimens as they are transported to laboratories. There is also a strong move towards automation, rapid methods and point of care testing, and Sterilin is committed to ensuring that their product line evolves with the times, not only meeting but anticipating the changing needs of customers.

Sterilin would be delighted to show customers around their new Head Office and manufacturing facilities at Parkway in Newport. To arrange a tour or for further information about the Sterilin product range, please contact Alison Smith, Marketing Director, (0)1443 830830, email: alison.smith@sterilin.co.uk , www.sterilin.co.uk
