Wales Anaesthesia Innovation: new building to simulate an NHS ward

The new Cochrane Building within Cardiff University’s School of Medicine boasts six storeys and will include a clinical simulation suite set up exactly like an NHS ward.

The building will provide state-of-the-art  clinical skills facilities, and have an impressive lecture theatre that will be easily malleable to suit many different requirements.

Opening later this year, The Cochrane building will provide industry with opportunities to organise training, education courses and conferences in collaboration with senior NHS staff. This will be in addition to the Anaesthetic’s Simulation Centre, which is also available for hire.

The Centre is also able to carry out testing of medical devices to particular standards, and encourages enquiries from industry who would like to take forward innovative ideas, for examples applying for funding, carrying out user assessments and organising clinical trials.
